How do I know if a training session is right for my pet?

Training encompasses teaching specific skills or commands to your dog, such as sit, stay, recall or heel. One-on-one training is particularly beneficial for dogs that struggle to adapt to a class environment, exhibit reactivity to other dogs, or require tailored training for their home environment. Here are some areas where training may be appropriate:

  • Jumping up on people
  • Pulling on the leash
  • Recall (not coming when called)
  • Communication issues
  • Confidence building
  • Impulse control
  • Basic commands (sit, down, stay etc.)

One-on-one puppy training is not advised if you have a choice of joining a group class in Plettenberg Bay. Group classes for young puppies are essential for building socialisation skills, allowing them to interact with other dogs and people, and habituating them to different environments.

How do we do this?

  • Training Scheduling: We’ll work together to find a convenient time/place for the training session.
  • Homework: I leave you with homework until the next session to ensure that we are achieving training goals.
